Since starting my first clinic in 1989 I have enjoyed every aspect of podiatry. I have a particular interest in biomechanics and have developed a special interest in treating injuries and assessing dancers with a view to avoiding injury, especially when young dancers move towards pointe` work. This interest is responsible for the invention of Arch Angels, which are flexible insoles, patented in Australia, and sought by dancers via the website from all over the world. I enjoy the challenges of making people’s active lives more comfortable and I find treating children is particularly rewarding.

My professional life has also been rewarding as I have had the opportunity to contribute to the profession in a variety of ways. I was President of the Australian Podiatry Association (Qld branch) from 1993-2000 and in 1997 I was appointed as one of two Queensland health representatives to the Health Rights Advisory Committee. I have been a Board member of the Podiatrists’ Registration Board and Member of the Medical and Allied Health Professional Group. I am currently the National representative for Podiatry services with a major Private Health Insurance Company.

I commenced classical ballet, jazz ballet, tap & Scottish highland dancing at the age of 4yrs. During my 25 years of dancing I have seen many sporting injuries which could have been prevented if only instruction and treatment had been started at an early age. As a Podiatrist for the past 10 years my greatest reward is from improving people’s daily lives by identifying and treating problems early on and knowing that I have given them the best possible start to a pain-free and long sporting life.

During my education I represented Queensland on the Marathon Canoeing Team 1997-2000 and I enjoy rock climbing and playing soccer. Because of my sporting background, the areas of podiatry that are of particular interest to me include sports podiatry and footwear. There are so many new advancements in shoe technology that footwear, combined with orthotics, provide podiatrists with many more positive outcomes for patients. I also enjoy the challenge of treating various degenerative conditions eg Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Although I enjoy every challenge that comes my way, I do have a keen interest in attempting to solve what appear to be unsolvable foot problems for many people. My special interests lie in nail surgery and paediatric and adolescent biomechanics. My favourite past-time is international travel so I really enjoy getting to know the diverse variety of people I meet and treat in my profession.

I am an Accredited Podiatrist with special interest in diabetic care and biomechanics. The unique challenges of caring for diabetic patients are of particular interest to me and this is an area to which I have devoted significant effort in my professional life.
